Tete Dijana wins third Comrades Marathon men’s title

South Africa’s Tete Dijana has made it a hat-trick of Comrades Marathon victories. The Mahikeng resident won the 98th edition of the Ultimate Human Race from Pietermaritzburg to Durban for a third time, adding to his victories in 2022 and 2023. Dijana, the down run record holder, timed his run to perfection. Running in the colours of Nedbank Athletics Club, he took the lead with approximately 16 kilometres to go and completed the 89-point-9-8 kilometres in an unofficial time of five hours, 25 minutes and 28 seconds. It’s 11 and a half minutes slower than his record set two years ago, but over a different course. Dutchman and 2024 champion, Piet Wiersma, finished second, just like he did in 2023. He crossed the finish line just five seconds behind Dijana. Russian Nikolai Volkov was third. For more news, visit sabcnews.com and #SABCNews on all Social Media platforms.
